It's quite and relaxing a nice break away from everyday chaos
Paynes Creek Historical State Park is located where Paynes Creek enters the beautiful peace river. There is a area for canoe launch, an interpretative center, hiking trails, picnic area, a swinging bridge and markers where the old fort and Indian trading store were. There is no camping at this time, December 2016. The park is rarely ever crowed since it is at an out of the way location. A fun place to see how old Florida looked along the river.
The park is what old Florida used to look like. Lots of trails to hike. The suspension bridge is down until futher notice so we could not get to the monument.
Saw it briefly for kayaks, but the current would have been too strong-- ended up launching at another site-- but really want to launch for the Peace River from here some day soon.
Very beautiful park. Restrooms are clean. Peace river trail was my favorite
